Sealark supports Culburra Beach Rural Fire Brigade ahead of high-alert bushfire season

As the South Coast gears up for an El Nino summer and the heightened risk of bushfire, Shoalhaven development company and biodiversity stewardship site manager Sealark has donated $7,500 to Culburra Beach Rural Fire Brigade.
Ahead of what is anticipated to be a very busy fire season for volunteers this very kind donation will be used to replace some important firefighting equipment on their Bush Fire Tanker.
“The Culburra Beach Brigade is in the process of replacing some of our firefighting equipment used while on the job, this includes items such as nozzles, chainsaws, and first aid equipment,” said Captain John Kerr.
“The Culburra Beach Brigade is extremely grateful for this very generous donation.”
Sealark Managing Director – Land & Development Matt Philpott said the company’s latest donation recognises the critical work of local firefighters while acknowledging the challenges ahead this bushfire season.
“The volunteers at Culburra Beach Rural Fire Brigade donate a lot of their time and make plenty of sacrifices to help keep our community safe. They deserve our gratitude and need our support, especially with a hot summer ahead. Sealark is proud to be in a position to help,” Mr Philpott said.
Sealark is owned by The Halloran Trust, a registered charity, which was established to fund education, research, community and conservation projects. The company also undertakes property management actions to preserve and care for the Lake Wollumboola Biodiversity Stewardship Site.
Both Sealark and The Halloran Trust have a long history of supporting community projects and organisations in the Shoalhaven.
Last financial year, The Halloran Trust donated over $250,000 locally. Culburra Public School received a gift of $50,000, Shoalhaven Marine Rescue received $50,000, Nowra-Culburra Surf Lifesaving Club received $50,000, and Jervis Bay Maritime Museum received a gift of $100,000 from The Trust.
Sealark is currently progressing new housing developments at West Culburra and Callala Bay. Along with essential new homes, including affordable housing dwellings for key workers, the developments will provide much-needed social and economic revitalisation to this part of Shoalhaven.
Sealark’s development operations enable the company to continue its environmental conservation work, while ensuring The Halloran Trust can continue its support for local projects and organisations.
Sealark voluntarily protects close to 2,200 hectares of its land through four major agreements with the NSW Government, actively improving biodiversity values through major rewilding programs, bushfire safety measures and other initiatives.
